Events - 2007 & 2008

For the first time in a dozen years we will not be participating in any Christmas shows - as I have taken a sabbatical this year from making our products. I felt it was time to stop being immersed in always being very busy making things, and to take some time to just "be"!

The garden has benefited immensely - for the first time ever it has been put to bed properly! A lot of leaves have been raked and bagged and brought to the giant leaf pile - that become lovely compost - that is then sold as a fundraiser for our local hospital. I actually wondered whose garden I was in recently - it seemed so tidy and even a bit empty of the usual perrenials and annuals in need of cutting back... While I have felt a bit at loose ends - I know taking this time to step back - has been a good decision.

I am now starting to look ahead and plan for next season. I have travelled to Montreal and spent some time at the Atwater and Jean Talon Markets - and am currently doing a lot of reading and thinking about food. The tagline for Farm Boy truly resonates with me right now - "It's All About the Food"!

As the ideas I have become more tangible - they will be integrated into the products we make and the other things we do.

Events that we know for sure that we will participating in next year:

The 13th Midsummer Herbfest, July 27th, 2008 at the Herb Garden (for more information about this magical event - go to www.herbfest.ca)

The Carp Farmer's Market Garlic Festival - August 9th & 10th, 2008

Looking forward to seeing you there!
